Djezzy's revenues rise nearly 3% in Q3, EBITDA up 1%

Algerian operator Djezzy reported revenues of DZD 23.7 billion in the three months to September, up 2.6 percent year-on-year (+4.2% in Q2). This represents the first quarterly release since telecom group Veon relinquished operational control over the company, which is now fully owned by Algeria’s state-owned national investment fund FNI (Fonds National d’Investissement).

Third-quarter EBITDA rose 0.8 percent to DZD 10.9 billion (+7.3% in Q2), while the EBITDA margin contracted slightly to 46.1 percent, from 46.9 percent in the year-earlier period. The operator invested DZD 2.7 billion in its operations, with increased focus on its network deployment efforts. As a result, 4G population coverage improved to nearly 77 percent, up from 73 percent sequentially and 67 percent in Q3 2021.

The customer base rose 4.6 percent year-on-year (+3.3% in Q2), supported by growth in 4G subscribers (+23.3%). Djezzy achieved over 650,000 net additions in the year to September, for a total of 14.7 million mobile connections. This compares with a base of 14.4 million reported at end-June.
