YouTube launches Primetime Channels

YouTube has further blurred the boundaries between the video sharing that was once its hallmark and the traditional television space.

The Google company has launched what it’s describing as an “early version” of what it’s calling Primetime Channels.

It means users in the United States can now subscribe to streaming services including Showtime, Starz, Paramount+, AMC and ViX+ from within YouTube itself.

“We are excited to expand our partnership with YouTube to offer customers of Paramount+ another way to stream the content they love,” said Jeff Shultz, Chief Strategy Officer and Business Development Officer, Paramount Streaming. “This new feature gives us the opportunity to expand our presence on YouTube, broadening our reach and giving consumers even more choice when it comes to streaming the best in entertainment.”

In all 30 channels can be purchased directly through YouTube with the promise of more to be added later.

YouTube recommendations will now also include programs from Primetime Channels.

It already runs YouTube TV a bouquet of around 100 basic channels at a cost of $64.99 a month.
