stc launches its ‘Awareness is Power’ breast cancer awareness campaign

Kuwait Telecommunications Company – stc, a world-class digital leader providing innovative services and platforms to customers, enabling the digital transformation in Kuwait, announced the launch of its breast cancer awareness campaign titled ‘Awareness is Power’, in line with the international awareness month. The campaign consists of both internal and external activities organized by stc in collaboration with doctors from the International Hospital.

stc indicated in a statement that spreading awareness on breast cancer prevention comes as an annual initiative the Company participates in under the umbrella of its extensive corporate social responsibility (CSR) program. This year stc collaborated with doctors from International Hospital to host an internal event for the Company’s staff. The attending doctors provided stc employees with early detection methods, additional information regarding the disease, as well as consultation advice. As part of the collaboration, International Hospital offered stc employees special discounts including a 50% discount voucher for mammograms and 50% off on a consultation.

stc also hosted the writer and economist, Nadia Al-Sharrah, as part of the "Awareness is Power " campaign, to share the story of her struggle and success against cancer with the company's female employees, and to educate them about the importance of early periodic examination. She emphasized that breast cancer is a curable cancer if detected in its early stages, and this can be done using the most effective means, which is a mammogram as early diagnosis saves an individual's life

In addition to the awareness activities, stc organized a contest for its followers on the Company’s official Instagram account. The contest included general knowledge questions with the topic being breast cancer. Followers that answered correctly got a chance to win a free mammogram and consultation from International Hospital.

Danah AlJasem, General Manager of Corporate Communications at stc, said, “stc annually participates in the ‘Breast Cancer Awareness Month’ with the objective of informing as many individuals as possible to raise awareness on the disease. Our campaign this year, ‘Awareness is Power’, focuses on the importance of being aware of the proper methods to detect the disease and seek the necessary treatment at an early stage. The objectives behind this initiative align with those of stc’s CSR framework, primarily focusing on health awareness, which is a key pillar behind our program.”

Aside from raising awareness, stc has organized events that support the health sector across various levels with the aim of engaging and empowering the community. stc will continue spreading awareness on important health issues and contributing through various productive ways that positively impact the community.
