The Information and Communications Technology Association of Jordan (Int@j) has signed a memorandum of understanding with the Iraqi Business Council (IBC), with the aim of strengthening cooperation between the two sides and supporting efforts to find new markets for their member companies.
According to an Int@j statement, cited by the Jordan News Agency, Petra, the IBC, under the memo, will be an economic partner for Middle East and North Africa ICT Forum, which is scheduled to be held on November 16 and 17.
The agreement also aims to enhance the IBC and Int@j-affiliated companies' cooperation, in terms of organising conferences and activities, which would serve both sides, as well as holding periodic meetings to discuss available business and investment opportunities and enhance joint cooperation.
Under the MoU, the two sides seek mutual support in organising economic events, enhancing knowledge exchange, networking, partnership and cooperation, and circulating all data, which might be relevant to promoting joint trade and business between the two entities' members and strengthening their strategic trade alliances and cooperation.
Speaking at the signing ceremony, Int@j Chairman Eid Sweiss stressed the importance of signing the MoU with the IBC, especially since the association always seeks to open new markets for member companies.
Sweiss said that Iraq is an "important, strategic" market for Jordanian companies, describing it as "one of the most promising destinations in the ICT sector".
He noted that this partnership will pave the way to support various Jordanian companies, including start-ups and their different products and solutions by enabling access to Iraqi market or enhancing their presence there.
The council's Vice President Saad Naji said that the MoU would serve and develop the IBC's companies, enhance cooperation, promote business opportunities and establish trade partnerships between the two sides' member companies.
Naji noted that the agreement would enhance cooperation and the exchange of expertise in the ICT fields, especially in digital transformation, which has become an important pillar in enhancing the business environment as well as cooperation in leadership and innovation.
