Bite plans 5G launch by year-end

Bite Lithuania has revealed that it plans to launch its 5G network by the end of the year, after being awarded spectrum in the 3.5GHz and 700MHz bands by the Communications Regulatory Authority (RRT) last month.

Bite secured a block of 100MHz spectrum in the 3400MHz-3500MHz range and 2×5MHz in the 700MHz band for EUR3 million (USD3.0 million) apiece. ‘Bite’s network development strategy is to build a completely new 5G network in the higher frequency band. The newly acquired 700MHz frequency range will complement the 3.5GHz frequencies acquired by Bite a few weeks ago. Such a combination of frequencies will guarantee a fast, stable and widely available 5G connection,’ commented Gintas Butenas, Deneral Director of Bite Lithuania, adding: ‘During the project, Bite invests not only in the creation of a completely new 5G network, which requires the new frequencies, but also in the modernisation of the networks already in use. For customers, this will mean even higher internet speed, connection stability and operation in an even wider area.’
