Saudi Arabia's digital regulator, the Communications & Information Technology Commission (CITC), has confirmed that the download speeds of mobile internet reached 270.83 Mbit/s. which is 3% higher than last year, while upload speeds of mobile internet reached 37.46 Mbit/s, 19% higher than last year in Makkah on July 9.
With extensive preparations from CITC, pilgrims have consumed 3.35K TB via telecom networks in Makkah City, this is the equivalent of watching 1.37M hours of HD video clips, the Commission reported.
Statistics released by CITC also showed that the average daily consumption was 814.09 MB/user, exceeding 3 times the world’s average consumption of around 200 MB/user. And the most used apps are YouTube, TikTok, Facebook, Snapchat, and WhatsApp, the Commission reported.
On top of the 16.44 million local calls, 2.40 million international calls were made, with a total success rate exceeding 99%.
