The government-backed telecom operator Nepal Telecom (NTC) has started the 3G network in Tangbe, Baragung Muktikshetra Rural Municipality-3, in Mustang district. With the service launch, the people of Tangbe, and Chhaktang in Thasang Rural Municipality will have a connection to the third-generation mobile network.
This is the first time Ntc has established 3G services in the remote region in the Northern District of Gandaki province.
The surrounding areas of Jhong, Kagbeni, Muktinath have already got the high-speed network. But this is the first time Tangbe has received 3G connectivity on GSM service.
Now, the connectivity will benefit 48 households in Tangbe and 25 of them in Chhaktang.
NTC Office incharge of Mustang, Sumanram Shrestha said the company switched on its 3G network on a tower in Tangbe and Chhaktang. Prior to this, the network was available till Chhusang.
Chandra Mohan Gauchan, a Member of the Provincial Assembly shared that the project utilized the budget from the MPs Development Fund to procure batteries and other equipment for the tower to establish the 3G network in the area. This also included laying a 3 km long fiber cable between the two spots.
Three lakh rupees from MP Gauchan’s constituency development program were utilized to set up a 3G tower. This will likely have a great and positive impact on the locals’ life for communications. Now, the people of the area have a next-generation mobile network for their communications. The funds from the policy of FY 2078/79 were spent to buy 3G hardware and establish the network.
Now, the people in the area will have reliable mobile internet and voice services on their phones.
Mustang comprises 96 villages. Gorkhapatra says the mobile network, including 3G, has reached the majority of the areas in the district already.
