Ooredoo Group and BICS agree voice traffic deal

Operator Ooredoo Group and international communications company BICS have announced a multi-year agreement through which BICS is to manage voice services across the group’s operations.

This deal will create what the partners describe as an innovative voice business model that will deliver new solutions in artificial intelligence, machine learning, and fraud protection, among other areas.

Ooredoo Group says the agreement for voice traffic with BICS, a leading international voice carrier, is the first such partnership of its kind in the region.

Effective immediately, the agreement will involve a phased deployment plan for Ooredoo Group operating companies across its global footprint that will be rolled out in Q3 and Q4 of 2022. Ooredoo is headquartered in Qatar but its footprint extends to 11 other countries covering Asia, the Middle East and North Africa.

Ooredoo Group will work with BICS for voice traffic both in and out of the Group’s operating companies. A key element of the first phase of the deployment plan is the creation of a dedicated team of specialists to share insight, expertise, and resources between the two organisations and ensure a firm focus on customer experience.

The focus is clearly on voice, with the partners say, high voice quality guaranteed across the full range of BICS destinations across the world (BICS describes itself as one of the largest providers of international communications). However, they add, Ooredoo Group will also enjoy access to the very latest in new technology which will enable augmentation of several elements of the operator’s business and, in turn, enable further enhancement of the customer experience.

BICS solutions range from global voice services, seamless roaming and IoT enablement to global messaging. BICS has more than 120 access points of presence worldwide.
