Group Vivendi Africa (GVA) officially launched ‘CanalBox’ fiber-to-the-home (FTTH) services in Port-Gentil – the country’s second largest city – on 22 June, reports Direct Infos. Following the introduction of significant speed upgrades last month, two unlimited subscription packages providing downlinks of either 50Mbps (XAF25,000 a month [USD40.14]) or 200Mbps (XAF45,000) are now available to customers in the the capital Libreville and Port-Gentil.
Speaking at a press conference, GVA Gabon CEO Marc Civelli commented: ‘I am very proud that our company is making very high speed broadband accessible to everyone in Africa and, more broadly, multiplying the positive impact of the internet for society in terms of development, innovation and inclusive growth.’
GVA launched FTTH services in Libreville in October 2017 and has since expanded the network to cover more than 140,000 homes and businesses in the capital and surrounding areas.
