Ringier plans to launch a TV channel in Serbia named Blic TV.
According to Danas, it will compete for a national frequency in a competition recently announced by the Regulatory Body for Electronic Media (REM).
Ringier already has a presence in Serbia’s print and online sector and will particularly face competition for a national TV licence from TV Nova S. There are currently four national TV channels in Serbia – Pink, Hepi, Prva and B92 – while a fifth licence has not been allocated for nine years.
Danas also says that the Serbian incumbent currently promotes the private TV channels K1, Bloomberg Adria, Euronews, Tanjug and Kuri.
In its view, this confirms that it has control over these channels.
