Teltronic brings TETRA radio to six airports in the Philippines

In a major boost for the TETRA radio standard, MacroAsia Corporation (MAC), a leading provider of aviation-related support services in the Philippines, says it has relied on Teltronic, a designer and manufacturer of mission-critical radio communications, to deploy a TETRA communication system that services six airports in the country.

In the six airports – Clark, Kalibo, Cebu, Davao, General Santos and the capital, Manila – the system will replace the existing DMR and analogue radio network. This is said to be the first TETRA system in airport environments in the Philippines.

Terrestrial Trunked Radio (TETRA) is a professional mobile radio and two-way transceiver specification, designed for use by government agencies, emergency services, public safety networks and transport services among others.

Teltronic says its global communications solution allows MacroAsia to operate a secure, highly reliable system with advanced capabilities for all groups operating at the airport, including the runway operations control centre, plane landing and take-off signalling, airport information service, security personnel, tow vehicles and emergency services, among others. It will also allow MacroAsia to use advanced data-enabled applications that will improve the efficiency of its daily communications.

Teltronic says that one of the main advantages of the infrastructure it has provided is that the airports are able to manage their communications autonomously, from a single point in Manila, or establish communications between each other if necessary in case of emergency or in any other situation that requires wider coordination.

Teltronic’s end-to-end solution consists of a network control node and a state-of-the-art network management system that manages the overall system and that allows the monitoring in real time of all base stations regardless of their location across the country.

The solution also includes world-class terminals and a Teltronic CeCoCo control centre that allows advanced dispatching as well as real-time GPS positioning of all subscribers at the six airports.
