Ooredoo expands FTTH network to Hoadedhdhoo

Ooredoo Maldives has expanded its ‘SuperNet’ fiber-optic broadband service to Hoadedhdhoo island in Gaaf Dhaalu atoll. Customers in these locations are able to access fixed broadband speeds of up to 100Mbps.

The Communications Authority of the Maldives (CAM) awarded an ISP licence to cellco Ooredoo in August 2015 and the firm launched commercial fixed telephony and broadband services in the capital Male in May 2016, notes TeleGeography’s GlobalComms Database. Since then, FTTH services have been expanded to more than 38 islands, including Hulhumale, Vilufushi, Kulhudhuffushi, Villingili, Maradhoo, Eydhafushi, Maradhoo Feydhoo, Gahdhoo, Addu City and Maamigili.
