Satellite operator Thaicom has penned an agreement with satellite and solutions provider Globalstar, to deploy commercial low earth orbit (LEO) and provide commercial services to boost Thailand’s tourism and maritime industries.
In a statement, Thaicom and Globestar announced they will develop and operate ground stations in the country at the former’s centre in Pathumthani province, enabling Globestar’s LEO satellites to deploy commercial services.
The services will be aimed at encouraging personal life safety and management for tourism in Thailand as well as the maritime industry in the region.
Both companies said the move will focus on enhancing security in maritime and tourism, which could also lead to LEO satellite business expansion throughout the country and the region.
