Mitratel earmarks US$69.5 million investment for rural towers deployment

Indonesia’s largest telecommunication tower operator Dayamitra Telekomunikasi (Mitratel) is ringfencing IDR1 trillion (USD69.5 million) to build out new towers in underdeveloped, frontier, and outermost (3T) areas across Indonesia.

The Jakarta Globe notes that with Mitratel committed to driving the government’s bid to connect all the country’s population to the broadband internet network, the company will invest the monies over the next four years with its director Hendra Purnama stressing that the allocation will be ‘outside’ the company’s usual annual capital expenditure, which will reach IDR9.9 trillion in 2022. Hendra added that the funding came from the initial public offering (IPO) conducted in November 2021.

The tower construction is Mitratel’s support for distributing telecommunications networks to all corners of the country and accelerating Indonesia’s digital economy growth, the paper said.
