Spanish regional operator Euskaltel has launched a new fibre-to-the-home (FTTH) network based on XGS-PON technology. The new service, which is initially available to 4,000 homes in Astigarraga, is branded ‘Fibra MAX’ and delivers maximum download speeds of 10Gbps.
The ISP notes that 75% of the total population of the Basque Country (Euskadi) currently has access to fibre-optic connectivity via Euskaltel. When the modernisation programme concludes later this year, a total of 1.3 million homes and businesses will be able to connect to Euskaltel’s FTTH network.
