XL deploys 4G LTE in most parts of Southeast Sulawesi

Indonesian mobile network operator (MNO) XL Axiata has expanded its 4G network in Southeast Sulawesi, Sultra Province, during the early part of this year, and now covers 107 (48% of) sub-districts in the region with around 1,200 villages served by its LTE signal.

In addition to the network expansion via additional base transceiver stations (BTS), the MNO is also upgrading 4G network capacity both in terms of radio and transmission, as well as through fiberisation, it said. To date, XL’s fibre-optic network has been extended to more than 943km covering approximately 64% of active BTS in the region. Further, since the start of 2021 XL claims to have increased capacity on close to 300 BTS and is seeing a steady rise in data traffic from users in Southeast Sulawesi, in particular in Kendari, Konawe Regency and Muna Regency.
