Students at Al-Fateh Secondary School for Boys have created a digital project entitled “Artificial Intelligence and Renewable Energies”, based on building a unit to produce sustainable, environmentally friendly electric energy, which contributes to rationalizing consumption and saving its expenses. They succeeded in implementing it experimentally in the school, by linking it to air conditioning and lighting.
The idea came in light of the noticeable rise in electrical energy consumption, as a result of the increased use of electronic devices, urban development, and the resulting increase in the amount of electronic waste that contains substances harmful to the soil and to surface and underground water resources, in addition to the high percentage of harmful gases that cause global warming.
In implementing it, the students relied on the recycling of used electronic devices, the Internet of Things, and artificial intelligence, and it was successfully applied to air conditioning and lighting, after equipping classrooms and laboratories with a set of thermal sensors and air quality sensors, then sending all the data to an Internet server. Thing Speak, energy consumption monitoring by Blynk app on Bluetooth and SEM connected mobile devices, as well as voice control activation for classroom and laboratory lighting via Alexa Amazon app.
