Ericsson partners with universities in Morocco to boost students’ digital skills

Ericsson (NASDAQ:ERIC) has signed agreements with major universities in Morocco to strengthen mutual partnership in areas of Information and Communications Technology (ICT) skills development, career mentoring, training, digital learning, and innovation. The primary goal of the program is to give young talents in Morocco world-class learning and career development opportunities.

As part of agreements, Ericsson will provide students with on-the-job training and mentorship through senior specialists in the industry. Ericsson will also provide students access to Ericsson Educate, a digital skills portal developed by Ericsson during the pandemic, that aims to strengthen the ICT skills of university students and increase their readiness for jobs in the telecom and ICT sectors.

The project is part of Ericsson’s #AfricaInMotion campaign, which aims to accelerate digital inclusion and adoption across the continent. The program includes different learning paths, customized to the educational needs and maturity level of the target students, and features online courses on 5G networks, Internet of Things (IoT), data science, automation, artificial intelligence, and machine learning. Through curated thought leadership and innovation competitions for students, Ericsson plans to contribute actively to nurturing the future technology leaders of Morocco.

Nora Wahby, Vice President and Head of Customer Unit West Africa and Morocco at Ericsson Middle East & Africa says: “Since we began the #AfricaInMotion campaign, we have focused on promoting education, innovation, and entrepreneurship across the continent. Through our partnership with universities in Morocco, we aim to demonstrate technology’s potential to enable smarter ways of learning and enhance teaching effectiveness. Being a pioneer in cellular technology and holding more than a century-old legacy in the industry, we are committed to providing educational institutions across the continent our expertise, insights, and solutions to help Africa in nurturing its future technology leaders.”

Ericsson has been present in Morocco since 1984 and has since played a key role in the telecommunications landscape of the nation. By strengthening the digital skills of students and empowering universities to deliver quality 21st-century education, the program is set to nurture young Moroccan talent, help them unleash their potential, and accelerate the digital development of the continent.
