Telia Company of Sweden has agreed the sale of a 49% interest in its domestic mobile tower network. A consortium of Brookfield and Alecta recently bought a 49% interest in Telia Towers, which owns the telco’s tower assets in Finland and Norway. Telia has now agreed to transfer its Swedish tower business to the venture, covering 3,800 network sites. Total cash proceeds to Telia are expected to be SEK5.5 billion (USD588 million), with the transaction due to complete in Q3 2022.
Allison Kirkby, Telia Company President and CEO, commented: ‘Telia has a clear strategy to develop and crystalise its digital infrastructure by joining forces with strategic partners that have a similar long-term view of the value of these assets, and bring unique operating and commercial expertise to Telia. We are therefore delighted to expand our partnership with Brookfield and Alecta to also include our towers in Sweden.’
