FTTH growth continues in Spain

Spain ended last November with 12.6 million FTTH lines.

This, according to the regulator CNMC, represented a monthly growth 101,014 and was 1.2 million more than in the same period in 2020. At the same time, the number of DSL lines fell by 0.6 million in the year to November 2021.

Movistar accounted for the most FTTH lines in November 2020 – 4.8 million, or 38.1% of the total. Meanwhile, Movistar, Orange (including Jazztel) and Vodafone (including Ono) had a combined share of 79.1% of the fixed broadband market.

The total number of fixed lines in November stood at 18.57 million, down just over 31,000 on the previous month. The NEBA indirect access service (FTTH and copper) gained 2,416 lines in November, reaching a total of 994,066, of which 948,577 were fibre.

All told, there were 2,012,692 local NEBA lines as of the end of the month.
