Ncell has established IT labs in 59 Community schools across Nepal. The initiative will benefit 30 thousand students across the country.
The project is a part of Ncell‘s Corporate Social Responsibility and runs in coordination with MoICT.
The telco’s IT lab complies with the Ministry’s IT Lab 2077 Framework. This means the local administration, NTA, and community schools themselves will be responsible for the implementation of the program.
The project launched two years ago and had a plan to set up the IT labs in 60 schools in total. Although the COVID-19 crisis did give it a setback, the company says it has completed setting up the IT lab in 59 community schools.
Ncell says, “The project was to initiate 2 years ago but the COVID-19 hampered the supply of equipment. However, the project is now in its final phase and will complete very soon.”
The IT labs project closely aligns with the Digital Nepal vision. The company has set up the labs equipped with modern equipment and will lift the education standard in the community school,” Ncell added.
Ncell says its IT labs in community schools comprise a holistic IT package. The company has set up 24 computers with external hard drives. Besides, the telco has provided DVD, sound system, print/copy scan, projector, network router, etc. to the community schools.
The telco has also set up solar for power supply in regions without electricity. Additionally, one teacher from each school is trained to implement the technology efficiently.
The project will benefit 30 thousand students of community schools across Nepal. The labs will transform the education methodology in community schools and produce IT familiar human resources in the future.
Ncell also expects the initiative will help narrow the digital divide among the schools across the country.
