MASMOVIL (Yoigo) 5G network reaches 54% population coverage

Spanish mobile operator Grupo MASMOVIL (incl. Yoigo) has revealed that its in-deployment 5G network is now available in 686 cities/municipalities in 40 Spanish provinces across the country, blanketing 54% of the population. In a press release, Grupo MASMOVIL noted that since September this year the company has expanded its 5G coverage to 133 new towns, offering its customers mobile services with the latest technology available to ensure the ‘best experience’ possible. With 80% of Spain’s provinces now served, Yoigo’s 5G network currently covers: Alava, Alicante, Almeria, Asturias, Avila, Badajoz, Balearic Islands, Barcelona, Bizkaia, Caceres, Cadiz, Cantabria, Castellon Ceuta, Cordoba, A Coruna, Gipuzkoa, Granada, Huelva, Huesca, Jaen, Leon, Lugo, Madrid, Malaga, Melilla, Murcia, Navarra, Ourense, Palencia, Las Palmas, Pontevedra, La Rioja, Salamanca, Santa Cruz de Tenerife, Seville, Valencia, Valladolid, Zamora and Saragossa.

The expansion of the cellco’s 5G services allows it to use its allocation of fifth-generation spectrum in the 3.5GHz band. Grupo MASMOVIL holds 80MHz of this spectrum – the biggest allocation per customer in Spain – complemented by more than 26.8 million homes passed by its fibre offering.
