Azza Ibrahim Al Kindi, Director of Commercial Affairs and e-commerce at the Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Investment Promotion, said that a decision has been made to mandate some commercial activities in Oman to provide e-payment services. The mandate will be implemented in early 2022, in cooperation with the authorities concerned.
Oman News Agency reported that the cash payment option will remain available to consumers.
This step, Al Kindi explained, aims to achieve comprehensive digital transformation in line with Oman Vision 2040.
She urged commercial institutions in Oman to complete the procedures to provide the e-payment service.
