Deutsche Glasfaser to connect 550,000 Bavarian homes to FTTH

Deutsche Glasfaser has announced that it aims to supply around 550,000 households in Bavaria with fiber-optics by the end of 2025. The expansion is being carried out in cooperation with the government of the federal state, and follows the signing of similar agreements with Saarland, Saxony-Anhalt and Hesse. Deutsche Glasfaser currently supplies around 100,000 Bavarian households in 85 municipalities with fibre-to-the-home (FTTH). The firm plans to expand its fibre footprint in Germany to four million homes by the end of 2025, rising to six million in the medium term.

Last month it was announced that Deutsche Glasfaser entered a strategic partnership with Geodesia for the planning, deployment and activation of at least one million fibre-optic connections by 2025. As part of the partnership, Geodesia – part of Altice Europe – will be responsible for deployment of the fibre and the connection of customers. In the future, this cooperation will represent the largest of the 28 partnerships agreed between Deutsche Glasfaser and its construction partners across Germany.
