The Ministry of Transport, Communications and Information Technology has urged Omani port operators, shipping companies, ship agents, cargo agents and customs brokers to use electronic systems in shipping and maritime transport.
"The Ministry of Transport, Communications and Information Technology has issued a maritime circular to Omani port operators, shipping companies, ship agents, cargo agents and customs brokers to use electronic systems in shipping and maritime transport," the ministry said in a statement.
The ministry added that the circular came with the aim of motivating the maritime transport community in the Sultanate of Oman to use digital solutions such as electronic bill of lading and other services to facilitate trade and create a flexible environment in accordance with international best practices.
