Hungary, Huawei sign MoU on long-term cooperation

Hungary's Innovation and Technology Ministry and Huawei Technologies Hungary signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) on long-term cooperation in Budapest.

The agreement focuses on the digital transformation of education, the development of 5G and fixed networks, and "smart city" products, according to the Hungarian agency MTI citing a statement from Huawei.

The MoU was signed by Innovation and Technology Minister László Palkovics and Huawei Technologies Hungary CEO Colin Cai at a conference organized by the company.

The document establishes Huawei's continued close cooperation with local educational institutions and the development of digital instruction through innovation and knowledge transfer, said Huawei.

According to the announcement, the Minister of Innovation and Technology emphasized in his presentation that the most important technologies for Hungary are related to digitization and green technologies to improve energy efficiency.

Palkovics added that one of the most important future technologies will be the battery, energy storage, and Hungary has set itself the goal of being the second-largest member state in Europe after Germany with the largest production capacity.

"Huawei continues to strive for Hungary to play a leading role in 5G technology and its application. The company is committed to accelerating the commercial use of 5G technology so that all domestic industries can benefit from Industry 4.0," said the statement.
