Econet Wireless Zimbabwe has announced plans to deploy 130 new base stations over the next 90 days, while upgrading existing 2G and 3G sites to 4G.
Kezito Makuni, Econet’s Chief Operating Officer, is cited by TechZim as saying: ‘We are increasing our network capacity by upgrading our 3G sites to LTE. We are also expanding our network coverage to areas where we previously had limited or no coverage. A total of 130 sites are being rolled out over a 90-day period as we speak. We are excited that we are able to give our customers an early Christmas present.’
