Maroc Telecom was ranked first Moroccan company in the ranking established by Brand Finance, occupying the 13th rank in Africa with a brand value of 761 million USD (nearly 7 billion MAD) and climbing 5 ranks from its 18th position from last year.

The Brand Finance report underlined that Maroc Telecom “was able to capitalize on the increased reliability of its services during the previous year and a half, while professional and social life took place largely online, and managed to expand its customers with a 10% increase in broadband users ”.

After Maroc Telecom, Attijariwafa Bank is the second Moroccan company to appear on the ranking, at the 28th place, with a value of 409 million USD (3.7 billion MAD), come after Banque Populaire, Bank of Africa and Inwi, all of which retained their places in last year’s ranking.

South Africa sits comfortably at the top of the rankings, with 81 brands accounting for nearly 73% of total brand value, followed by Nigeria with 17 brands and 6% of total value and Morocco in third place with its 10 brands representing 6% of the total value of the brands in the list.

The report also states that the banking and telecommunications sectors remain the most important sectors on the continent, as evidenced by the type of brands appearing in the rankings, including those from Morocco. In addition, he announced that for this year, the total value of African brands has fallen by 5.5 billion US dollars mainly due to the economic difficulties relating to the Covid-19 pandemic.

It should be recalled that Brand Finance, founded in 1996, is a world leader in brand assessment consulting which started publishing its annual report on African brands last year and whose main objective is to “Reconcile marketing and finance ”.
