Izzi boosts fiber coverage in Mexico, Durango states

Grupo Televisa-backed cableco Izzi has invested US$40 million to expand its fibrer optic network in Mexico and Durango states, BNAmericas reports, citing an online press conference held by company executives. In Durango the fibre-to-the-home (FTTH) infrastructure will pass 120,000 homes, while in Mexico State the fibre network will pass 344,000 premises. With its arrival in these markets, the company’s services will be present in more than 100 cities, the report adds.

According to TeleGeography’s GlobalComms Database, Izzi first telegraphed its fibre-optic ambitions back in December 2018, when it selected Furukawa Electric LatAm to replace part of its HFC cable network with FTTH infrastructure. The initial rollout focused on Monterrey.
