Vodafone Turkey has claimed a first in the country by testing Dynamic Spectrum Sharing (DSS) between its 3G UMTS and ‘4.5G’ LTE-A networks, utilising the previously UMTS-only 2100MHz frequency band for LTE-A and enabling up-to-25% faster mobile data speeds.
The operator hailed the test – carried out using commercial equipment and terminals in the Foca district of Izmir in partnership with Huawei – as a significant development in its efforts to meet demand from its increasing 4.5G user base.
