State-owned fixed line operator Hatif Libya has signed a deal with US company Infinera to upgrade the country’s fibre-optic telecoms network, reports Libya Herald. The Libyan government said the project aims to provide phone and internet services to previously unserved areas and improve quality of service.
Prime Minister Abdul Hamid Dbeibah said the signing of the agreement is a strong step in advancing Libyan-American economic relations, as it enhances confidence that Libya is on the right path towards integrating state institutions to provide digital services to all, through which citizens have equal opportunities.
