Omantel launches "Capabilities Academy" aiming to upskill and specialize the skills of its employees

Believing in the importance of constantly developing and enhancing our employees and leaders & equipping them with the skill for the future. The Learning and Development Department at Omantel's Human Resources Unit has established and recently launched the "Capabilities Academy" initiative, which is a combination of skills, knowledge and expertise needed by employees to achieve ongoing successes. Typically, such competencies are exclusive to the company as they go beyond technical and job skills and focus on investing in employees' capacity building to boost the transformation process in the world of learning and development today.

The new Capabilities Academy provides the competencies required for Omantel to take the lead in the telecommunication sector in a consistent manner and alignment with its strategy through partnering with a several of international institutes to build the Technology, Business, Digital, and Data School led by the foundation of the Leadership Academy

Commenting on the initiative, Saif bin Sultan Al Abri, Senior Manager of Learning and Development at Omantel, said, "We are pleased to announce our partnerships with some prestigious universities and institutes to implement programs that aim to enhance the knowledge, competencies and skills of our employees. In this regard, Omantel linked a partnership agreement with Stanford University, one of the leading US academic institutions that come third place internationally in computer and information sciences and support services. It also participated in conducting various creativity researches in the field of information technology (IT). Moreover, Omantel signed a partnership agreement with the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), one of the most prestigious educational institutions in the US and the world. Established in 1861, MIT ranks first in the area of technology and computer sciences, information systems and operations researches."

"As far as leaders' training is concerned, Omantel entered into a partnership agreement with the leading US Georgetown University founded in 1789. The agreement aims to implement a special two-phase Programs that targets employees who hold leading positions at Omantel. Additionally, Omantel entered into a partnership agreement with Harvard Business School, under which the latter will provide training courses and specialized certificates to the employees in different capabilities required. Through signing these partnership agreements, Omantel aspires to enhance the skills of its employees and help them stay up-to-date with the latest developments at the functional and technological levels.
