Repair of the country’s first submarine cable (SEA-ME-WE-4) has completed. Now the speed of the internet in the country is normal and has returned to the previous speed.
Ahmed Junaid, general secretary of the IIG (International Internet Gateway) forum and managing director of Level-Three Carriers Limited, an IIG company, said the repair work on the submarine cable was completed at 6:44 pm on Friday.
“Now cable live. The internet is back to normal.”
Earlier, Bangladesh Submarine Cable Company Limited (BSCCL) had said in a press release that it would take 8 hours to repair the cable.
As such, the repairs were supposed to be completed by 10:30 pm. It is learned that the repair work of the submarine cable was completed in 4 hours and 14 minutes.
The Cox’s Bazar Roads Department and the Cox’s Bazar Development Authority have completed the construction of a new route as an alternative route to the existing underground cable from Cox’s Bazar Landing Station to Beach Manhole for the SEA-ME-WE-4 submarine cable.
The new route will be connected to the ‘SEA-ME-WE-4’ submarine cable with optical fiber and power cable.
