Huawei, leading ICT solutions and service provider, organized a virtual tour of its Darwin Hall on May 22, 2021. The virtual program aimed at demonstrating the latest developments in the global ICT sector and Huawei’s contribution to it.
The journalists from Bangladesh and Nepal and officials of Huawei attended the tour. Jay Chen, the vice president of Huawei Asia Pacific, kept his virtual presence throughout the tour.
During the tour, participating guests caught a glimpse of digitization-enabled technological advancements such as 5G ToB, Smart Manufacturing, Smart Port, Smart City, Smart Police, and OTN Ultra-Fast Financial Private Lane. These technological advancements manifest the potential of digitalization even during pandemic situations.
The vice president addressed the difficulties brought by the pandemic in the session. He expressed how technology has helped the world in economic recovery.
Chen said, “2020 has been a difficult year for everyone. But technology has played a critical role in helping us fight against the pandemic and accelerate economic recovery. Facing these challenges, Huawei has worked even more closely with our customers and partners than ever before. Nations like Bangladesh and Nepal are showing remarkable progress to keep up with the pace.”
Nepal was the leader for the 3G deployment among all telecom sectors in the South Asian region. Therefore, once Nepal launches the 5G network, it will boost the digital transformation process in Nepal. Nonetheless, Nepal needs to focus on a lot of research, study, and preparation on the 5G rollout regarding standard regulation, frequency identification, rollout plan, etc.
Huawei Nepal representative, Ivan said, “A country undergoing rapid digital transformation, Nepal used to be in the leading position in the South Asian region for telecom sectors in the 3G era. So now, once Nepal has started to enter the 5G club, it will give more confidence to the whole telecom industry in Nepal. However, there will be a greater need for a lot of research, study, and preparation regarding standard regulation, frequency identification, rollout plan, etc. to be done by the Government of Nepal, for the commercial launch of the 5G network.”
He further added, “We believe that during the study and preparation for the 5G test, Nepal can still keep on rolling out 4G networks nationwide. There are still a lot of people in rural areas who have not benefited from 4G. So, it is better to first roll out, focus on 4G in rural areas, and let more people benefit from digital service.”
Mr. Chen also added that Huawei is leaving no stone unturned to provide technical assistance in bringing digital transformation. He said, “Huawei has been pushing its limits, to take up this genuine responsibility and provide the nations with state-of-the-art technological assistance, for a continuous and seamless transition, from one level of technology-driven development to the next.”
Just like Charles Darwin, who discovered a new era in natural science, Huawei aims to unfold the secrets and latest developments in the DigiTelligent Forest.
