UPC Polska expands gigabit network

UPC Polska, the nationwide operator, and provider of fiber-optic internet in Poland has expanded the coverage of its fixed broadband network services in an additional 12 cities, with customers able to reach up to 1 Gbps speed.

The operator has expanded the range of internet services with a speed of 1 Gb/s to another 390 thousand households by continuing to invest in the development of modern fibre-optic infrastructure since the beginning of the year, according to a press release from Liberty Global Europe's telecommunications operation in Poland.

The list of cities within its reach has been joined by: Pabianice, Zielona Góra, Chorzów, Kielce, Kołobrzeg, Wałbrzych, Zabrze, Bytom, Jaworzno, Opole, Dąbrowa Górnicza, and Jastrzębie. As a result, the speed of 1 Gb/s is already available for a total of 2,973,502 apartments in 94 towns throughout Poland.

Commenting on the development, Monika Nowak-Toporowicz, VP, CTIO at UPC Polska, said: “At UPC Polska we continue to invest in the development of modern fibre-optic infrastructure, to offer customers the best quality access to unlimited home internet on the market. It allows for unlimited work, study, digital entertainment and to be in touch with his relatives, which is extremely important during a pandemic."

Monika added: "Extending the range of 1Gbps to no less than 3 million people in Poland is lasting confirmation of our position as a leader (in fast internet) as well as continuing to increase the quality of access to home internet for our customers”.
