The new Latvian streaming platform Tet+ has made its debut using a points-based system.
It offers TV channels on an à la carte basis and customers can access the Small (€9.99) and Large (€14.99) subscriptions with 80 or 120 points respectively.
In turn, each of the channels is assigned a certain point value – from 1 to 5 points. Within the number of subscription points, each viewer can choose their own selection of TV channels from a wide range of more than 70 channels, as well as include in their choice a streaming subscription, which allows one to watch movies and series at any time and without advertising breaks. Furthermore, the subscription owner will be able to change the channel selection an unlimited number of times.
Commenting on the launch, Inga Alika-Stroda, Tet’s director of entertainment services, said: “We offer Latvian viewers an entertainment platform they have long dreamed of. If the previous generation TV viewer had to, for example, subscribe to the whole sports channel package or children’s channel package to watch only one channel from it, then the latest generation television customer will be able to select exactly the channels he and other family members are really watching.
“We can introduce Tet+ thanks to our reliable customers, the professional team of Tet, which creates it here in Latvia, as well as channel distributors who are ready to try a brand-new operating model, which provides for abandoning the classic channel packaging approach”.
Wide Media CEO and board member Peteris Remerts, who represents Kidzone, Filmzone, Epic Drama, VIP Comedy, Duo 3, Duo 6 and other channels in Latvia, added: “The new TV channel selection model gives viewers even more freedom of choice, and this will be a new experience for us TV channel distributors too. This is a pleasure to see that Tet is working on new and exciting solutions, trying something unprecedented in the market. By engaging in the implementation of modern ideas, we can learn what is important for the television viewer at this very moment. Viewers will appreciate the opportunities offered by Tet+”.
