The Latvian incumbent telco Tet has announced plans to launch a new streaming entertainment platform this spring.
Known as Tet+, it will offer viewers the opportunity to choose their own TV channels and combine them with the streaming service.
According to the company, it will be a unique offer on a Baltic scale and one of the first of its kind in the world.
Commenting on the development, Inga Alika-Stroda, Tet ‘s director of entertainment services, said: “Tet has always been a company that works tirelessly and creates new services that exceed the expectations of our customers. We are at the forefront of the view and, given the rapidly changing needs of technology and society, we will offer a solution for the future Aware that we have to compete with the players of the global arena, we are developing the new platform together with the best Latvian experts, paying special attention to the usability and convenience of Tet +. A wide range of the world ‘s best and local content is Tet’ s answer to world – class competition”.
Tet + will gradually replace the existing Shortcut and its viewer will be able to choose from up to 90 TV channels and a streaming offer with more than 13,000 favourite movies and series, as well as movie premieres.
Tet notes that Latvian society is changing rapidly and this is confirmed in its TV and video consumption. Data available to the company shows that last year a third of internet users watched video content, up 9% on 2019. Furthermore, almost a third of Latvians say they would like to compile their own list of channels and pay a little extra for doing so.
