Zattoo gains over 10,000 users in Austria in first 3 months

In the first three months since its launch in Austria, TV streaming provider Zattoo reports more than 10,000 registered users on its platform.

More than half a million hours of TV content have been streamed. On average, each user watches around 60 hours of TV per month via Zattoo. For many of them, the streaming provider is the main way to receive TV content, according to Zattoo, adding that 80% of the time is streamed on the big screen.

Zattoo launched in Austria at the end of October 2020 and is now present in all three major German-speaking markets.

“We are very pleased with our successful launch in Austria,” said Jörg Meyer, Chief Officer Content and Consumer at Zattoo. “With our offer, we provide a full alternative to conventional reception infrastructures such as DTH satellite or cable. This is also reflected in the strong usage on the big screen, which we will continue to focus on in the future.”

In Austria, 78 TV channels can currently be streamed with the two subscription models Premium and Ultimate. Since the launch, more than 15 further channels have been added, including news channel oe24.tv, family channel RiC TV and home-shopping channels QVC and HSE. The majority of the channels are available in HD quality.

Austrian public broadcaster ORF’s domestic channels ORF 1 and ORF 2 and German commercial channels ProSieben, RTL and VOX are among the most popular TV channels on Zattoo in Austria, according to data analysis. In the future, the streaming provider wants to offer more channels as well as subscription video-on-demand packages in Austria.
