Two Slovak mobile operators have announced their latest 4G expansions. Market leader Orange says its LTE-A infrastructure, which provides download rates of up to 300Mbps, has been extended to reach 52.9% of the population with the addition of services in towns including Cadca, Krasno nad Kysucou, Kysucke Nove Mesto and Turzovka, according to Zive.sk. The same firm has also enlarged its basic 4G footprint to encompass areas which are home to 4,500 residents. Its LTE networks are available to over 99% of the population in 141 cities and 2,182 villages.
Meanwhile, the country’s smallest cellco by subscribers, 4ka, has expanded its 2G and 4G networks to cover 156,000 people in towns such as Hrinova, Gabcikovo, Sastin-Straze and Tlmace, giving it 82% population coverage. The operator has said it has also been improving network signal in existing coverage areas, including Bratislava and Kosice.
