Kilo Marine has become a KVH Watch solutions partner, joining others in an increasing programme to provide monitoring and intervention services. KVH Watch provides a connectivity pathway for remote support to ships and a channel for partner solutions.
Kilo Marine is offering its V-Node platform through KVH Watch’s dedicated connectivity to provide on-demand remote expert intervention enabling Kilo Marine technicians to support their customer base and use internet of things (IoT) for data acquisition and monitoring.
“The unique combination of V-Node and KVH Watch will deliver an affordable and managed IoT infrastructure for shipowners and managers,” said Kilo Marine managing director Warren Haills. “With the added benefit of real-time analytics and direct on-demand video interventions for troubleshooting, vetting, audits and more,” he continued.
KVH senior director of IoT business development Sven Brooks said demand for remote support solutions is rising due to restrictions imposed in reaction to the global coronavirus pandemic. “Digitalisation is accelerating, as is the importance of remote surveys and real-time troubleshooting,” said Mr Brooks. “Service providers can offer remote support and vessel optimisation solutions can be unleashed through dedicated channels.”
KVH Watch provides secure channels for these services through Ku-band satellite communications mostly provided through Intelsat’s constellation. Ships can use KVH Watch and KVH global mini-VSAT Broadband network through TracPhone terminal and antenna equipment manufactured by KVH and the AgilePlans Connectivity as a Service.
KVH Watch comes with dedicated hardware that needs to be installed on ships and a VSAT channel that is separate from the vessel’s other VSAT, used for operational and crew welfare requirements, said Mr Brooks.
Other partners of KVH Watch include Kongsberg, ioCurrents and TMS Maritime Solutions, with others in the pipeline.
Partners can provide vessel optimisation solutions, remote services, IoT, data analytics, surveys, troubleshooting, expert advice and more services through KVH Watch.
