New PoP expands Sparkle’s reach in Brazil

There’s a new point of presence (PoP) in Brazil from Sparkle, a leading international service provider and global operator.

The recently announced PoP, in Porto Alegre in the southeast of the country, further expands the company’s network reach in Brazil – in fact it’s the twelfth Sparkle PoP in the country, adding to the existing sites in Sao Paulo, Rio De Janeiro, Fortaleza and Salvador.

The new PoP, says Sparkle, responds to a fast-growing demand for international connectivity services in Brazil, offering local and regional players high-speed internet connectivity through Sparkle’s IP transit service Seabone, as well as advanced transport solutions of up to 100 GB through the City2City service.

The PoP in Porto Alegre is fully integrated with Sparkle’s global Tier-1 IP backbone Seabone, which boasts extensive coverage in Central and South America with points of presence in Argentina, Brazil, Bolivia, Chile, Colombia, Panama, Peru, Puerto Rico and Venezuela.

Thanks to its terrestrial and submarine networks, Sparkle also offers four diversified routes for connectivity from South to North America, ensuring complete redundancy.

The company adds that, by connecting to the PoP, network providers, ISPs, OTTs, and content and application providers can also benefit from Sparkle’s DDoS mitigation service, which gives customers the option to self-protect their networks from attacks. They can also benefit from the Virtual NAP solution, which allows access to the main internet exchange points (IXPs) without the need to build any proprietary infrastructure.

It seems to have been a busy 2020 for Sparkle, which earlier this year announced a Pacific cable enhancement and a new point of presence in Morocco.
