Mobile network operator (MNO) Indosat Ooredoo has selected Huawei of China to build out an SRv6-based 5G-ready IP transport network in some key areas in Indonesia, including Greater Jakarta, East Java and Bali.
Antara News reports that in deploying the advanced technology alongside its various fibre-optic network expansions, the MNO aims to deliver faster cloud computing data connectivity to an ever-growing base of smartphone users and other digital communities in the country. Commenting on the development, the firm’s chief technology and information officer Medhat Elhusseiny said: ‘We are excited to partner with Huawei to build Next-Generation Programmable Network Infrastructure by delivering Asia Pacific’s first SRv6-based 5G-ready transport network. With this we hope we can bring more value and enhance our customers experience for digital services, especially for latency sensitive and real time applications.’
