EE extends 5G coverage to twelve more locations

British mobile network operator (MNO) EE says it has switched on its 5G network in twelve new locations across the UK. In terms of the cellco’s latest 5G coverage expansion, the new towns and cities to gain access to the network were named as: Aberdeen, Aldershot, Barrhead, Blackpool, Castleford, Crawley, Mirfield, Oxford, Porthcawl, Shipley, Stafford and Warwick.

Having previously inaugurated its 5G network in May 2019, EE now claims to have extended the reach of its next generation mobile broadband connectivity to a total of 112 towns and cities across the country. Meanwhile, the MNO claims that in the last twelve months it has more than doubled the amount of 5G sites in what it refers to as ‘key cities’, such as Belfast, Birmingham, Cardiff and Edinburgh.

Commenting on the latest expansion, Marc Allera, CEO of BT’s Consumer business, said: ‘Delivering the best mobile experience for our customers has never been more important. Our 5G rollout continues apace, with our engineers building and upgrading new sites every day to bring the latest mobile technology to even more people in the places they need it. We have 5G coverage in more places than anyone in the UK, and we remain focused on connecting many more areas this year and beyond.’
