Digicel Samoa has announced the completion of a major WST2.5 million (USD1 million) network upgrade cycle which means that all cell sites across the country are now 100% LTE, making the cellco the first operator to achieve this milestone in Samoa. Loop Samoa reports that upgrade works commenced in May this year and were completed last month.
Commenting on the development, the unit’s CEO Mark Witthuhn said: ‘Our ambition is for every Samoan to experience and connect with loved ones on the best quality network. We are going Big on network experience. Big on being your digital lifestyle partner, and Big on giving back to the community. This calls for a celebration as the LTE upgrade now gives our customers superior data experience.’ Here ‘Big’ is a reference to Digicel’s three new ‘Big On Data’ tariff plans which it notes come with bigger data allowances: 4GB for WST5 (valid 24-hours), 10GB for WST10 (three days), and 25GB for WST20 (seven days).
