Jurassic Fibre names Honiton and Taunton as next locations for fiber rollout

British full fibre broadband provider Jurassic Fibre, which is focusing its rollout of fibre-to-the-premises (FTTP) technology in South West England, has reportedly outlined its current plans in the region, which includes a foray into neighbouring county, Somerset.

According to ISPreview, the company has confirmed it is planning to begin infrastructure deployments in the towns of Taunton in Somerset, as well as in the Devon town of Honiton. Commenting, Michael Maltby, Jurassic Fibre CEO said: ‘Honiton represents a new phase in our journey and signifies a major step forward in our plans to improve digital connectivity in the South West. Our investment in the town includes the purchase of a warehouse building to support our network build across East Devon and Somerset.’

To date, Jurassic Fibre is believed to have covered more than 14,000 premises with its fibre network, with its initial deployment having been focused on Devon, with parts of the following locations having been covered: Exmouth, Clyst Honiton, Clyst St George, Clyst St Mary, Ebford, Exton, Farringdon, Aylesbeare, Lympstone, Sowton Village, Woodbury and Woodbury Salterton. Ultimately, the company aims to pass around 350,000 premises with its network, while it is reportedly expecting to hit the 20,000 premises passed mark ‘over the next few months’.
