Boxer Denmark, the digital-terrestrial pay-TV operation owned by energy company Norlys through its Stofa cable TV arm, has launched a two-pronged streaming offering, with services targeted at sports fans and non-sports fans respectively.
Boxer Streaming bundles broadband acess with three Danish streaming services – publicly-owned broadcaster TV2’s TV2 Play, Discovery’s Dplay and Nordic Entertainment-owned Viaplay. Also includes are public channels DR and TV2, pay TV services from Discovery and Nordic Entertainment and other services the existing Boxer Play app.
Boxer said that it had chosen to offer two products with and without sports to cater for all tastes. Boxer Streaming with Sport provides access to the same content as the non-sports offering with streaming sports services on top.
Boxer was originally owned by Sweden’s Teracom, which sold the Swedish operation to cable operator Com Hem and the Danish unit to Stofa.
“It has become complex for Danes to find their way around the world of TV channels and streaming services. There are more than 30 streaming services and 100 TV channels to choose from. It is simply too much for many of us,” said Erik Andersen, director of Boxer.
“We believe that many Danes would like help choosing the best streaming services. At the same time, we know that many do not want to say goodbye to the best TV channels and the traditional zapping experience. We combine the two requirements in our new product, We maintain that it should be simple and cheap to be a customer of Boxer. With the new products, customers get broadband, streaming and TV in one place. We make it easy to choose. And the price is keen.”
