50 percent of Prague’s metro stations now covered by LTE

The Prague Morning newspaper reports that 30 metro stations in Prague, or half the total, are now covered by a 4G LTE signal, with Karlovo namasti station being the latest to join the list.

Further, under a plan being implemented by a consortium of mobile operators and CETIN (reportedly coordinated by T-Mobile), by the end of the year ten more stations will be added, while the entire metro network should be covered with a mobile signal by early 2022.

If work continues at its current pace, passengers should have access to a 4G signal ‘in all sections of the subway at the end of 2021’. The costs of covering the capital’s metro stations and the tunnels amount to CZK12 million (USD540,000) and CZK18 million, respectively.
