Telia Lithuania slowly reducing 3G services, more spectrum to go to LTE

Telia Lithuania is gradually withdrawing from 3G services, reports Vz.lt. The operator will switch one of its 3G bands to LTE services in August. The final stop of 3G services is planned for 2022.

From 25 August, part of the 2,100 MHz spectrum will be used for LTE services across the country, save the cities of Vilnius and Kaunas.

Older handsets not supporting LTE, as well as mobile routers and other 3G devices will be switched to the 900 MHz band by default. If the device doesn't support 3G on this band, it will be switched to the 2G network.

More than 98 percent of the data traffic currently runs over the LTE network at Telia Lithuania.
