Airtel supports ISBAT university

Airtel Uganda will provide free internet services to students to access ISBAT University’s hybrid blended learning platform, a relief that will save some people money of buying data.

According to a press statement from the telecom company, this support will ensure that students continue studying at a time when the government has suspended the operations of educational facilities as a measure of controlling the spread of the coronavirus.

ISBAT University vice chancellor Dr K.M. Mathew, in a statement, said that world over, universities adopted such learning and assessment practices for the affected semesters in order to save the semester and progress academically.

“The university’s aim is to ensure that our students are not at a disadvantage due to the prolonged closure of the university in the lockdown period and we sincerely hope to save the semester in a timely manner,” he noted.

Since the lockdown of all education facilities in March 2020, Airtel Uganda, according to the statement, has put in place a number of interventions to ensure Ugandans continue to access their education materials. The telecommunications company recently partnered with Avaya Holdings Corp. (NYSE: AVYA), as well as a number of online education providers to implement remote learning initiatives.
