Mobile network operators continue to actively connect Ukrainian settlements to 4G. In May, 1,188 inhabited localities were connected to 4G networks. Of these, 723 received 4G for the first time, and others now have an alternative in choosing 4G services from different operators.
Providing citizens with access to high-quality communication and high-speed Internet is one of the strategically important issues for President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy. After all, the fastest way to ensure maximum coverage of the country with high-quality communication is the development of 4G networks.
"Life has changed, it has moved online more. Therefore, I would like us to accelerate the pace of ensuring high-quality coverage of our country. Technologically, of course, this is difficult, but we need to learn to respond to new challenges to protect the country from new upheavals. The country needs to be connected not only by road infrastructure, but also by virtual one,” Volodymyr Zelenskyy is convinced.
In total, as of May 2020, 4G is available in 16,205 inhabited localities. This is 57% of their total.
“Currently, operators’ base stations work mostly in the 1800 MHz band. But in July, they will begin deploying 4G networks in the 900 MHz band. This will cover a larger area with one base station. So, we expect an even faster pace of development of 4G networks," Deputy Prime Minister - Minister of Digital Transformation Mykhailo Fedorov said.
